Working on our first LP!

What a long, strange year it’s been – live music has been hit really hard due to the necessary distancing restrictions. We already miss playing shows SO MUCH, but we’re trying to make the best of a bad situation by focusing on getting a large batch of songs recorded for what will be our first “LP” release. These songs run the gamut from a couple of our earliest compositions that didn’t fit with the previous EPs, some things we’ve been playing live for a while, to our first quarantine-based track (which takes our sound in a slightly different direction).

We actually had time scheduled to record this spring, but when the pandemic hit it seemed safest to cancel until more was known. Since then, we’ve all been isolating pretty well to the point where we felt safe to get together for practice sessions in one of our basements. This lead to a honing of the songs, and made the recording of our basic tracks go really smoothly.

We still have the usual way-too-many guitar overdubs to do, and all the singing, plus mixing in some crafty auxiliary percussion tracks – so don’t expect to see this record until next year. In the meantime, here are some photos from the first studio sessions.
